Trease #2

I’ve just finished the second volume of Trease’s autobiography — it has certainly been an interesting journey! This second book covered the time during and shortly after WWII. I learnt a number of ne w things about everyday life during the war and the British war effort (e.g., that due to the fear of a German invasion, the name-boards in the railway stations were removed), and I hope these will come in handy for my British history class next semester (once again I’ll be rushing through British history from the ice age to Maggie Thatcher in nine weeks). And how utterly frustrating it must have been for an author to be told, “We’d love to publish your book — if only we had enough paper!”
