Do you know who this is?
My students didn’t. ‘Tis truly shocking.
Dame Barbara tends to look rather scary in her later photos, somewhat Miss Haversham-ish.
Oh! Oh! I know! Call on me Prof. Schwab!!
Dame Barbara Cartland. Plus her dog. But I don’t know the dog’s name.
Did they recognize the name when you told them?
Oh poor you!
I’d love to join that course!
But for now I have to finish my homework… a translation of an article about KEVIN BACON. I love the instructor already. *lol*
at first glance i thought the mary kay founder. i’ve never read cartland before- where should i start?
That’s B. Cartland when she was only about 70.
It’s much, much worse: I didn’t show them the picture. I wrote her name on the blackboard — and they didn’t have a clue. *sigh*
Karen, I really liked A Hazard of Hearts. Some of Cartland’s novels were made into films sometime in the 1980s or early 1990s. Again, A Hazard of Hearts is quite lovely (Marcus “Blue Eyes” Gilbert as Lord Vulcan!), and I also enjoyed A Ghost in Monte Carlo.
